Faith Like Potatoes
Faith like potatoes is based on a true story of a farmer from Scotland who decides to take his whole family to South Africa to start over farming in a new land. For the first 45 minutes or so of this movie you would never guess this was a Christian film because the story telling is very subtle, yet eventually you know. It is a great film in that it never feels contrived like some Christian films feel. Perhaps that is because it is based on a true story.
This is the right film to watch now that the World Cup of soccer just ended that took place in South Africa this June and July. You get a real feel for this far away land. You really feel like you aren't watching actors in this film but real people. It is really that well acted. It is films like this that remind you of the early days of Christian music. They started out not so good and now many Christian musicians are just as talented as their secular counterparts. So too with Christian filmmaking it is getting better and better until you see a film like this. Like a Christian field of dreams. This movie proves once again that God is at work in the media to reach the world. I give faith like Potatoes a 9 out of 10.
